Evenings and events that take guests 23

Each entry here is open to anyone or says that guests are welcome, so a visitor can come along without joining first. In Düsseldorf that means the Düsseldorfer Schachklub 1914/25 in the city centre, TuS Düsseldorf-Nord with its Tuesday meeting in Stockum and the Chess Night at Fatty’s Irish Pub, a blitz evening with cups for beginners, advanced and strong players. The Ludwig-Engels-Open rapid tournament in September is open as well.

Around the city the list runs from Krefeld, where Turm 1851 plays on Fridays and Rochade on Tuesdays, to Hilden, Kaarst, Erkrath, Meerbusch and Langenfeld, the Velbert clubs in Tönisheide, Neviges and Langenberg, Witzhelden, Nettetal-Hinsbeck and Jüchen-Hochneukirch. In Wuppertal the Bahn-Schachclub, the Schachfreunde Vonkeln and Anna 88 take guests, and the open Wuppertal blitz city championship was played on 3 October in 2024 and 2025.
