Chess in Krefeld 4

Two Krefeld clubs share the chess centre on the Johansenaue. The Krefelder Schachklub Turm 1851 plays there on Friday evenings, keeps a beginners’ evening on Tuesdays and runs four rated opens a year in its club house, at Easter, Whitsun, Christmas and as a one-day rapid in June, besides the open city championship of the autumn. The Krefelder Schachgesellschaft Rochade 1926 gives the same address for its own Tuesday club evenings.

In Uerdingen the Schachclub Bayer Uerdingen 1923 sends a team into the Breitensport league of the Lower Rhine. The Volkshochschule Krefeld adds a chess circle for people from fifty on Monday evenings, led by a trainer over fifteen meetings until January 2027. Several Krefeld schools play school chess as well; their groups are listed with the school chess.
